What we are doing to upgrade our website to improve accessibility and security for customers.

Welsh-medium secondary education

The public engagements closed on 26 March 2026.

Decisions about schools affect every part of family and community life, your children, your routines, your work, and your local area.

We want to make sure that every learner who wants a Welsh-medium secondary school place can access one. This includes all pupils in Welsh-medium primary schools, and pupils who may wish to transfer to Welsh-medium secondary schools at a later date.

Your feedback will help us understand what matters most to you.

We want to hear your views on:

  • Short term changes for the pupils entering secondary education in 2027 to 2028.
  • How to ensure an appropriate balance of Welsh-medium and English-medium secondary school places to serve Cardiff in the future.

There are two public engagements, each of which runs from 12 February to 26 March 2026.

This is an opportunity to learn about potential options, ask questions and make comments. It is your chance to tell us what matters most, what concerns you, and what you hope for the future of Welsh-medium secondary education in Cardiff.

How to find out more

The Schools Census Equalities Data table shows information supplied by Cardiff schools, including: the percentage of pupils that are eligible for free school meals, the percentage of pupils whose ethnicity is not 'White British', and the percentage of pupils who speak English or Welsh as an additional language.

If you require this information in an alternative format, please email [email protected].
