The Friends 4 U Scheme offers friendship and support to young people between 7 and 18 years of age who are involved with Cardiff's children's services.
The scheme allows volunteers to give young people the chance to experience a wide range of activities such as sports and leisure with the hope that they will find something they enjoy and will carry on with after the involvement ends.
Become a volunteer
Are you able to commit to befriending a young person you are matched with? Are you reliable, enthusiastic, confident and non-judgemental? Do you have a fun, positive attitude, good communication skills, and a good sense of humour?
Volunteers spend a few hours with their young person every week or fortnightly depending on what's convenient. Some meet in the evenings, others at weekends. We provide out of pocket expenses.
Friends 4 U welcomes volunteers from all sectors of the community. Volunteers must be over 18. You will have to attend a few training sessions to prepare for the role. As a volunteer, you will have access to skill related training through Cardiff Council. To be accepted you will need to have a Disclosure Barring Service (DBS) check and provide two satisfactory references.
It you are interested in becoming a volunteer please complete the Friends 4 U volunteer application form (Word doc, 56 KB) and return to the address on the form.
Alternatively, if you would like an application pack sent to you or would like to find out more about Friends 4 U please contact us.
