This privacy policy will explain how the Cedar Project will use the personal data collected from you when you are referred to us for support to prevent losing your accommodation and/or help resettle you into a new accommodation in the Cardiff a district.
Cardiff Council is the Data Controller for the purposes of the data collected. All personal data is processed in accordance with the UK GDPR and Data Protection Act 2018.
What data do we collect?
The Cedar Project will collect the following data:
- Personal data (Title; Full name; Date of Birth; NI Number; Address; Contact numbers and if it is safe to call/text; Language requirements).
- Family make up (Partner; Children and who they reside with; Perpetrator)
- Housing/Tenancy status.
- Financial issues (Income expenditure; Debt; Employment status; Benefits being claimed).
- Factors that may make you vulnerable (Alcohol/Drug dependency; Criminal activity; Physical/Sensory Disabilities; Illness; Refuge status; Additional support needs; Safeguarding issues).
- Support needs/current situation (Are you in a safe place or in crisis; Patterns of abuse).
- Details of any Risk assessment if available, or any risks that staff may need to be made aware of.
- Equal Opportunity data (you will have the option not provide this data and it will be anonymised).
This is collected for the purpose of allowing the Cedar Project to deliver its service and the intention of the project is to provide a smoother pathway for Male Victims of Domestic Abuse/Sexual Violence to prevent them from losing their accommodation and/or help resettle them into a new accommodation in the Cardiff a district.
Data Protection law describes the legal basis for our processing your data as necessary for the performance of: (e) Public task: the processing is necessary for you to perform a task in the public interest or for your official functions, and the task or function has a clear basis in law.
Legislation: Housing (Wales) Act 2014, Social Services and Well Being (Wales) Act 2014, Well-Being of Future Generations (Wales) Act 2015.
How do we collect your data?
You directly provide the Council with most of the data we collect. We collect data and process data when you:
- Attend one of the Cardiff Council's Hubs and get support from Council staff or by a professional making a referral on your behalf.
- Use or view our website via your browser's cookies.
- Engage with your support worker in support sessions.
- Allow access to medical records or professionals that may be supporting you.
- Information can be collected through electronic means (ie Word, Excel, Outlook), postal responses (surveys and questionnaires) and / or face-to-face interactions (including individual and group meetings).
How will we use your data?
The Council collects your data:
- To assess your needs and process your referral.
- To prevent you losing your home through multiagency working, target hardening of the property and ensuring a wraparound of holistic services to support you.
- To signpost you to other services that can support you in achieving your outcomes.
- To be able to report on your outcome and show effective service delivery.
Who do we share your data with?
The Cedar Project will share your data with Pobl, a third-party organisation who are contracted to provide you with accommodation and floating support.
Pobl will only be processing your personal data under the instructions of Cardiff Council.
The floating support Pobl offer will be with your consent. You can withdraw your consent at any time by emailing [email protected].
Your support worker at Pobl will need to contact other agencies in order to support you effectively, you will need to give your consent for them to act on your behalf and/or receive information relating to your personal circumstances that may be relevant to the support that you need.
How do we store your data?
The Cedar Project securely stores your data on the Council's Floating Support Management System.
The Cedar Project will keep the information received in the carrying out of your support plan for the duration of your support and in accordance with the Council's Retention Policy. Once this time period has expired, we will delete your data 3 years after your support has ended.

You have the right to request the Cedar Project provides copies of your personal data.
